We have helped Norfolk residents to develop a treatment plan that will help them to work through the struggles that they have with drug or alcohol addiction.

Can I Work During Outpatient Rehab?

An understandable concern among many people who realize that they have an addiction revolves around whether or not they will be able to work during the time that they are in treatment. There are many people that depend on their job as a source of revenue. Therefore, they are unable to commit to a partial hospitalization program. However, this doesn’t mean that that person will not be able to complete an addiction treatment recovery program. During either an intensive outpatient program or a general outpatient program, you will have the opportunity to work or even see to school responsibilities. Our treatment team will always do everything that we can to work around your schedule so you never feel as though you need to choose between your addiction care or these important responsibilities.

What is Outpatient Drug Rehab Like?

The crux of your outpatient program will revolve around participating in different forms of therapy so that you can develop an understanding of the root cause of your addiction. Some examples of the therapy that you will experience during the time that you’re in treatment include:

Group therapy

During group therapy, you will have the chance to interact with other people that are working through their own respective forms of treatment. It’s not uncommon for a person to feel as though they are completely alone in the way that they feel. However, group therapy can help you to develop your own form of support as you continue to work through treatment.

Individual therapy

There may be certain aspects of your life that you simply don’t feel comfortable talking about in a group environment. However, it’s still imperative that you work through these events so that you can maintain your sobriety. During individual therapy, you will be able to have a more personalized interaction with your treatment team which can help you to address these issues. Also, individual therapy can help you to check in with your treatment team to ensure that no changes or adjustments need to be made to your recovery program.

There are also other types of drug rehab in Norfolk and therapy that you may experience during your time in treatment. Behavioral therapy, trauma-based therapy, and family therapy are all examples of therapy that you will participate in during this time.

What to Expect During Outpatient Rehab?

Your experience in outpatient treatment will greatly depend on the type of treatment program that you opt to commit to. If you recently completed a partial hospitalization program, also known as a PHP, you may want to consider working through an intensive outpatient program. This type of program can help you to adjust back into the normal flow of life while still taking comfort in the fact that your treatment team is with you and for you throughout the week. Unlike a partial hospitalization program which requires 25 hours of therapy per week, an intensive outpatient program requires just nine hours of therapy per week. If you’ve transitioned into this program after a PHP, then you will continue to build on the lessons learned during your time in PHP. However, you can also decide to begin an IOP rehab from the time that you start working with The Source.

Another form of outpatient care that we offer at The Source is a general outpatient program. This treatment option is the most flexible program that we have at our treatment facility. In order to successfully complete a general outpatient program, you will need to commit to at least three hours per week in group therapy and one hour per week in individual therapy. From there, you will always have the opportunity to commit to our Alumni Program which is something that can provide you with a continued level of support after you complete your initial treatment program.
