Addiction Treatment That Gets to the Root Core of Addiction

At opioid rehab in Philadelphia, we believe that in order for you to overcome your addiction, you must first come to the root cause of your addiction. The reason behind addiction is different for every person that comes to our treatment facility which is the reason why we pride ourselves on giving you the individualized attention that you need from the moment that you first reach out to us.

What is Trauma Based Therapy Like?

It’s important to remember that your experience in trauma-based therapy will be tailored to suit your recovery plan. For instance, while some forms of trauma-based therapy may be suitable for some clients, they aren’t necessarily suitable for everyone.

One of the forms of trauma-based therapy that we offer at The Source is eye movement desensitization and reprocessing counseling, also known as EMDR therapy. This is a more modern form of therapy that revolves around the premise that through guided eye movements, a client will feel more comfortable talking about certain instances in their life that may have caused some form of trauma. Overtime, these events will become less of a trigger point and a client will be able to process events in a way that isn’t as painful.

Another type of trauma-based therapy that you may participate in at The Source is known as traumatic incident reduction therapy. This form of therapy is particularly helpful to clients that have experienced post-traumatic stress. Post-traumatic stress, also known as PTSD, manifests itself when a person is emotionally or physically scared from a certain event. It’s not uncommon for a person with PTSD to suffer from flashbacks or nightmares as a result of their condition which is something that can negatively impact their everyday life. Traumatic incident reduction therapy will help you to address these events and lessen their severe influence.

Rapid eye resolution therapy is designed to provide clients with more immediate solutions to their treatment needs. A client may participate in anywhere between two and six sessions of rapid eye resolution therapy during the course of their program which may help them to work through the emotions of their traumatic event more swiftly.

Keep in mind that we provide our clients with the opportunity to participate in trauma-based therapy in addition to participating in more traditional forms of therapy. For example, group therapy will play a focal role in your overall recovery because it gives you the chance to interact with others that are working through their own program. You may quickly come to find that other clients share similar views as you when it comes to important topics associated with addiction. Developing relationships and even friendships with others in your group is an excellent way to begin to build your own system of support which is something that is invaluable during the time that you’re in treatment.

When we’re starting to help you develop your treatment program, we will go into further detail regarding what you can expect from each option. From there, we will provide you with our recommendations regarding the best choice for you. Keep in mind that your program is always fluid, meaning that if we need to make any changes or to your plan throughout the way, we can adjust it at any time.

Individual therapy will also play an important role on your treatment plan because it will allow you to communicate with a member of our team on a personal level. It’s not uncommon for clients to feel uncomfortable talking about their addiction or traumas in a group setting, especially as they are beginning to transition into a recovery plan. Individual therapy gives you the chance to talk about these important factors in your life and share with us how you think your treatment plan is progressing.
