What is Alcohol Detox Like?

The premise of alcohol detox is to provide you with a safe environment where you can go through the process of detox and withdrawal with the peace of mind of knowing that you have a team of addiction experts to care for you. The detox facilities that we work with will provide you with a welcoming and comfortable environment so that you can truly focus on working through your withdrawal symptoms during these first few days of your new life.

It’s important to remember that during this time, it’s critical that you be open and honest with your treatment team regarding the severity of your addiction as this will play a factor into your detox program. For example, if you have a long standing addiction that has lasted for numerous years, there is a strong possibility that your withdrawal symptoms will be more severe than that of a client that has not had an addiction to alcohol for a shorter period of time.

How Long Does Alcohol Detox Last?

One of the common questions that we receive from clients that are thinking about going through alcohol detox is how long a detox program will last. Clients that suffer from an alcohol addiction can expect to spend approximately one week in a detox program. A detox team will continuously monitor your vitals and your withdrawal symptoms from the moment that you walk through the door so that you can start to recover and focus on what you can do to get yourself in better health.

What To Expect During Alcohol Detox

Although the teams at the detox facilities that we work with will do everything that we can to keep you comfortable during the course of the withdrawal process, there will undoubtedly be times that you struggle. It’s not uncommon for a person to experience a multitude of symptoms during this stretch of time. From cravings, to nausea, to an increase in anxiety to shakiness, there is always a possibility that you will experience one if not all of these symptoms.

The danger associated with withdrawal is the fact that detox symptoms are unpredictable and could become potentially deadly. It’s not uncommon for a person going through alcohol detox to suffer from more serious symptoms that could cause them serious physical harm.

Overall, however, the detox facilities that we partner with will continue to provide you with the support and hope that you need to make it through these seven days in your life so that you can spend the rest of your days with the peace of mind of knowing that detox is never something that you will need to go through again.

What Happens After Alcohol Detox

Once you have completed your alcohol detox program, you are now ready to focus on developing and participating in your recovery plan. At The Source, we believe that it’s critical that we help every one of our clients create a treatment program that meets their individual needs.

If you completed a detox program, we will strongly recommend that you take advantage of our partial hospitalization program. A partial hospitalization program provides you with the continuous level of care that you experienced during the course of your detox program. You will have access to a member of our team regardless of when you need it and also be able to relax in one of our luxurious single-family residences in Fort Lauderdale. You will be required to participate in a minimum of 25-hours of therapeutic treatment per week which will help you come to a better understanding of the traumatic events in your life that may have triggered your addiction.

We understand the fact that our PHP rehab in Delray Beach may not be conducive for every client which is why we also developed our intensive outpatient program and our general outpatient program. Both of these programs provide you with the option to return home at the end of your day. These programs are excellent for clients that need to maintain certain professional or personal responsibilities that prevent them from being able to commit to a partial hospitalization program.

Our team commits themselves to providing our clients with the lifelong care that they need to maintain their sobriety. Our Alumni Program will put you in touch with other clients that have completed their own treatment program. You will have the opportunity to participate in an extended group therapy session every month as well as sober friendly activities throughout the year. Enrolling in our Alumni Program will help you to develop your own system of support and surround yourself with people that have a unique understanding of what you have gone through as a person in recovery.

When you’re ready to commit to a detox and recovery plan, the experienced team at The Source is here to help you take the first steps toward sobriety. We realize the fact that you may have different questions or concerns regarding what you may expect when you go to detox or come to The Source which is why we have a member of our team available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to field any phone calls. Don’t live another day with the stress and chaos of addiction. Pick up the phone and call us right now at (800) 204-0418
