What is IOP Drug Rehab?

IOP is an Intensive Outpatient Program that serves as a transition between inpatient drug rehab and returning home.  IOP provides support while you learn to adjust to life in recovery and helps you heal from the root causes of addiction.  Typically clients live at home or in a halfway house while they receive ongoing treatment in IOP, so resumption of work or other responsibilities is possible.  Clients receive nine hours a week of treatment to allow for the most flexibility in their schedule, while still receiving support that is so important in any stage of recovery.  Clients will work with their individual therapists to do a “deep dive” into any issues they may need more time to work through.  Group therapy is also an important part of IOP as it provides the opportunity to connect with peers, share successes or struggles, and to find a sense of community during what can be a difficult time. Relapse prevention and education are also stressed in IOP.  The Source believes that relapse occurs over time and has identifiable stages that can signify when someone is struggling.  In IOP, clients learn about each stage of relapse and are equipped with the tools they need to combat any negative thoughts or feelings before they act upon them.

How Long is IOP Rehab?

Each person will have an individualized treatment plan that is tailored to their unique needs and life experiences.  Since The Source is not a “one size fits all” program, the length of the IOP will be different for everyone and will be dependent on their treatment plan, but typically clients can expect to remain in the program anywhere from two weeks to several months.  The beauty of this program is that it can be helpful even years into recovery.

Types of Therapy Used in IOP

Therapy is the cornerstone of IOP and is where most of the personal growth and healing happens.  The Source utilizes traditional and leading-edge therapies to help clients quickly and effectively heal from past trauma, treat underlying mental health conditions, and learn healthy ways to manage emotions.  Most people who struggle with addiction have experienced some form of trauma in their life, and until that is addressed, recovery may seem impossible.  The Source offers specific trauma therapies that have been shown to be very effective in helping people heal and learn to live happier healthier lives.  Therapies available at The Source include:

  • Individual and Family Therapies
  • Brain Mapping
  • Biofeedback and Sound Therapy
  • Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT)

  • Hypnotherapy
